Bow Ties via the Tie Bar
Glen Plaid, Seersucker, Houndstooth, Gingham, Argyl and Sutherland Highlanders, Black Watch
When I first started teaching, I was right out of college and didn’t look that different from my students. I wore a shirt and tie daily to distinguish myself. Several of my students thought I bore an uncanny resemblance to a particular umbrella carrying and bow tie wearing celebrity that shall remain nameless. I thus never wore a bow or even considered wearing one because I didn’t want to invite the comparison.
Several years have passed since my freshman year of teaching so I’m finally thinking it may be time to finally give the bow tie a try. I’ve heard it’s best to buy a starter bow until you master tying one, so these Tie Bar numbers should do just fine at $15. I’m debating which one to get, as you can see all my favorite patterns are represented here, or whether to get one at all. Am I really a bow tie guy? This is big sartorial step, which I don’t want to take lightly.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cosigned. The more you treat a bow tie like any other tie, the more natural it will look on you.
